The advantages of a Work Permit for relocation:

• Once travel restrictions are lifted, you can apply at the airport in one step (while travel restrictions are in effect, you need to apply at the embassy if you are coming from a country other than U.S.A.)

• Less burden for the company
• Cost saving compared to other application program such as Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)

How long can I get to work in Canada?

The length of the Work Permit for intra-company transfer depends on the position.

• 7 years in total for a managerial position (initial 3 years + 2 years + 2 years)
• 5 years in total for a professional position (initial 3 years + 2 years)

Can the president himself be transferred?

It is possible for the president himself to relocate to Canada. When you work for an existing Canadian company, your Work Permit will be issued for an initial period of three years, whereas if you want to start a new business, your initial Work Permit will only be for one year.  You can extend it after that.
