【Travelling to Canada for Essential Service workers 】

Canada is still under the travel ban due to COVID-19, but those who work in an *Essential Services can come to Canada.

Notes:

  • To work in Canada, you must apply for a Work Permit at an embassy and have a POE letter (approval letter).  Online applications are being assessed; however, it may take longer.
  • Most Biometrics facilities are temporarily closed. You will need to wait for the facility to reopen to  conduct the Biometrics, before a POE letter can be issued to you.
  • 14 days of self-quarantine is required after arrival in Canada.  You can’t work during this time, but  employers must still pay their employees.
  • Carry with you a letter from your employer, including a plan to  self-quarantine, what you plan to  do for Essential Services and a compelling reason to  start working in Canada.
  • Those who have positive an LMIA or WP Opinion letter must also apply for a WP at the embassy.
  • If you plan to bring your family over, leave it for when the travel ban gets lifted. Please keep yourself updated with the news in Canada. (Update:  It is possible to bring your family to Canada with Authorization issued by the Canadian government)
  • Travelling from Japan to Canada remains  categorized as  Travel  
    Cancellation Recommendation
    .  Postponement of all non-essential travel is recommended.
