eTA is an entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to or transiting through Canada by air. It allows Canada to screen travelers before they arrive. Visa-exempt foreign nationals need an Electronic Travel Authorization<\/a> (eTA) to fly to or transit through Canada. Exceptions<\/a> include U.S. citizens and travelers with a valid Canadian visa. Canadian citizens, including dual citizens, and Canadian permanent residents cannot apply for an eTA.<\/p>\n

What is an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)?<\/h3>\n

It takes a few minutes to apply for eTA through online. It requires your passport, credit card and e-mail address.  The fee for eTA is C$7.<\/p>\n

eTA is linked to your passport electronically. It is valid for up to five years, or until an expiry date of your passport.<\/p>\n
